Through its state-of-the-art play facility, advanced eco-technology, and sophisticated, yet comfort-based dining amenities, Beanstalks will achieve these positive associations. Thats what runs through the minds of many parents who, on behalf of their children, dutifully accept invitations to the entertainment playgrounds that are currently offered throughout the greater Houston metropolitan area and surrounding cities. What would the value be of an entertainment facility that caters to children of ALL ages? The now proverbial answer to that question is: PRICELESS!

Beanstalks Play Cafe is a groundbreaking concept in childrens entertainment that addresses the adult needs of parents and caregivers, while offering innovative entertainment to children, complete in an environment that is the wave of the future a very GREEN FUTURE! Projected to open in Summer/Fall 2010, Beanstalks Play Cafe has been designed to be a LEED [Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design] facility and their goal is to be the first Platinum-rated such enterprise in all of Sugar Land. The benefits of such a distinction will be many.

Average consumers are now acutely aware of global warming and are seeking ways of decreasing their contribution to it. Carbon footprint calculators, a means of determining ones own culpability, are coming into vogue. Beanstalks Play Cafe will be a major resource when it comes to counter-balancing negative environmental impact. Not only will the facility rely on alternative sources of energy in its day-to-day operation, every detail of its design and operation, from dinnerware to cleaning, is rooted in environmental conservation.

No less important are the incidental benefits of such a design, which include both aesthetic and educational public-appeal. European-designed windmills will adorn the front and rear roofline of Beanstalks Play Cafe, one on each side. Sleek, elegant and sculptural in form, these cutting-edge energy sources will become beacons of style from afar and intriguing mechanisms up-close. Their presence will be prominent in tours of the facility, as will the solar and photovoltaic panels. Such tours will be provided at very nominal, cost-covering fees, but will generate business throughout the rest of the facility, including the restaurant, gift shop, and climbing frame.

Other cross-financial benefits include the use of beautiful modern dinnerware made of recycled glass in the cafe. This colorful dinnerware will be bought wholesale but sold at retail in the gift shop. In essence, Beanstalks Play Cafes whole design aesthetic will transcend the current market of family entertainment centers and address the growing demand for design sophistication, be it adult OR child-based. Think GAP and babyGAP, or Pier 1 and Pier 1 Kids. Beanstalks will be the first to take this sophistication to family entertainment.

Beyond the material concerns of the public, the goal of the organization is to capture a market in search of something more than entertainment, a market in search of refuge, a market in search of community. Beanstalks will offer just that. The 300+ child capacity soft play climbing frame, which can also accommodate adults, will be an integral feature of Beanstalks, as will the 80ft pedal car race track, a separate 2 to 5 toddler climbing frame and 0 to 2 infant area. This type of physically challenging environment will undoubtedly be a mainstay in the upcoming campaign to fight childhood obesity.

Just as enticing, Beanstalks cafe and bakery will provide more than the usual menu fare in terms of nutrition and sophistication, with offerings of grilled tuna steaks, fresh vegetables, turkey burgers with baked french fries and fine wine. Energetic kids may return to play after eating allowing parents the luxury of dining more leisurely, knowing their children are in a secure and safe environment. Beanstalks will also host a gift shop that features unusual eco-friendly items as well as private function rooms available for either business or pleasure.

In the near future, the Beanstalks will broaden its repertoire. For those who prefer the comfort of home, Beanstalks will bring the party on over, with inflatable moonwalks and slides in tow. In keeping with its Green principles, Beanstalks will also offer school field trips to tour its facility. Children will learn about solar panels, windmills, water collection, and various other green technologies used in the day-to-day operation of Beanstalks. Other educational events, in the Community Room, will include junior inventor and science fairs, art competitions, and safety demonstrations by local fire and police departments. As a company that seeks to be sensitive to socio-economic inequities, it will provide special play dates for underprivileged children as well. This overriding commitment to multiple community needs and demands will ensure Beanstalks identity, or brand, within Sugar Land, Texas and well beyond.

The primary clientele of Beanstalks Play Cafe will be single and dual-income families with children under 10 years of age. Its alternative environment will attract parents seeking interactive activities for their children and themselves, as well as comfortable accommodations for rest and relaxation. Beanstalks will open its initial location in Sugar Land, Texas, an urban area approximately 20 miles southwest of Houston. Beanstalks will focus on a market of families within a 15-mile radius of the proposed location the cities of Sugar Land, Stafford, Katy, The Meadows, Bellaire, Richmond, etc. These areas have a total population of approximately 1.43 million people. The immediate area of Sugar Land is a predominantly White community (57.3%); with a large minority population of Asians (29.3%); 28.4% of households are classified as 2+ person family households; the average family size is 3.5 (i.e., 1 or 2 children); and 17.1% of all households have at least one child under 10 years of age. These statistics add up to a very large, very viable market.

All the dreams and promises of any startup company are as good as the people who run it. The management team of Yvette Atkinson, Robert Bethune and Simon Atkinson constitutes a wealth of restaurant, fiscal and project management experience and will serve as the driving force behind Beanstalks Play Cafe.

Yvette Atkinson, President, has 20+ years experience in the restaurant industry. Mrs. Atkinson is currently owner and operator of Favor Cakes. She oversees all aspects of the business, including marketing, sales, inventory control, manufacturing, delivery and customer service. Previously, Mrs. Atkinson worked at Ugos Italian Grill II as a Corporate Manager overseeing all day to day activities. Mrs. Atkinsons other restaurant experience includes working as Service Coordinator for The Original Pasta Company, a Manager at the Pasta and Clam Bar, a waitress at the Taste of Texas, Brenners Steak House and Michael Angelos. Her entrepreneurial drive, range of restaurant experience and proven sales success will ensure the Companys prosperity.

Robert Bethune, V.P. of Operations, has over 18 years experience in the restaurant industry, specializing in the set up, coordination and operation of high profile restaurants in the cities of Houston, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada. Currently Mr. Bethune is Assistant Director of Food and Beverage for Station Casinos the third largest Hotel and Casino Company in Las Vegas. His exceptional management experience has been utilized to successfully open and operate several high profile restaurants including: Tbones Chophouse and Lounge, the flagship restaurant of Station Casinos; Joes Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas; and Artista an avant-garde restaurant located in the downtown theatre district of Houston. All of these establishments have won several awards for quality and exceptional service. Mr. Bethune graduated with two Bachelors of Arts Degrees in Marketing and Management. His outstanding record in operations and start-up coordinator will form a solid foundation for the success of the company.

Simon Atkinson, V.P. of Business Development, possesses 20+ years experience as a Project Manager with significant experience in sales and marketing. Mr. Atkinson is currently the Manager of the HD (High Definition) Survey Department for CDI Engineering Process & Industrial. Previously, Mr. Atkinson worked for Survey 2 CAD USA as an HD Surveying Consultant. He also worked for INOVx Solutions as Office Manager. Mr. Atkinson graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction Management. Most recently, Simon and Yvette Atkinson were jointly awarded a patent, (U.S. Pat Number 7,178,669) for their vision and design to help protect local communities and the environment from the many downstream hazards associated with used and discarded tires. His wealth of experience in construction, sales and marketing will ensure the Companys future growth and stability. 

The best product or service doesnt amount to a hill of beans (pun intended) without the right marketing. Beanstalks Play Cafe will hire a proven Public Relations firm to ensure that its growth matches that of Jacks famous beanstalk. The ensuing marketing campaign will reach out to a population in search of community and comfort and will capitalize on the companys premium location. Beanstalks Play Cafe will use the power of the internet to target strategic demographic groups and areas, as well as targeting local newspapers, local radio, strategic billboards and use direct mail as part of their overall advertising campaign. Beanstalks will also utilize the latest trends in marketing technology, including a website that will provide information regarding the products and services offered and e-mail notification to clientele of special upcoming events. The website will be used to supplement all other forms of marketing collateral.
